Our Mission

From the founder

In 2020, after a re-envisioning of what was then Laura Schmidt Books, I founded Voyage of the Mind.

Voyage of the Mind is a platform for anyone and everyone passionate about learning and exploration. It’s a place where we can explore our own ideas while learning about others’ passions. Life is a voyage. I intend to make my life a voyage of learning.

Since its inception, Voyage of the Mind has reached thousands. I invite you to join the voyage today.        — Laura Schmidt

No matter who you are or what you bring to the table, there’s a place for you here.

Voyage of the Mind values all voices, all experiences, all walks of life. Your voice and your ideas are valuable, and we want to hear them. One goal in the creation of Voyage of the Mind was the creation of a site with universal appeal and universal potential to inform, educate, and bring people together. In today’s changing world, we face numerous challenges. The only way to surmount these challenges is by coming together and tackling them head-on — through dreams, ideas, and creative solutions.

Voyage of the Mind is a place meant to inspire creativity. It’s a place for lifelong learners, adventurous souls, pragmatic idealists, and cynical dreamers. But it’s also a place for anyone who’s ever wanted to discover their purpose or see the bigger picture of life.

At Voyage of the Mind, we espouse some simple sayings that stand for truth.

The pen is mightier than the sword.

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

Those who say it can’t be done are usually interrupted by others doing it.

I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.

The unexamined life is not worth living.

Little by little, one travels far.

It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.

Get busy living, or get busy dying.

Every man is guilty of all the good he did not do.

Life’s short. Start learning. Start living.
